best to watch this with safety glasses already on. When using this method of sharpening your core drill bit please take all precautions. In the Picture is a grinder and the video is one of the crew sharpening a 7 inch core bit. what you want to do is make scores across the diamond embedded teeth, not to many but just enough to be able to let new metal become exposed and wear away as the core drill bit cuts the concrete hole. The hammer method is not quite as effective but works just a well in a pinch.

100% money back guarantee if our core drill bits do not perform after the you drilled the first hole. We often get 40 core drilled holes per bit. We use plenty of water to make sure the bit doesn't get hot, but too much water will keep your core drill bits too cool to cause grit and the bit might not self sharpen.

    14-inch-hole-in-concrete
Core drilling 14 inch holes in a block concrete wall is not easy. The core drill bit in itself weighs close to 40 pounds and the rig, along with the core drill motor, adds to that weigh by a least another 60 pounds. So when core drilling on a wall you have to use more than just one concrete anchor to secure the rig to the wall so that the darn thing does not fall off while attempting to put the 14 inch hole in the concrete block wall

    vacuum-pump-for-core-drilling
A vacuum pump is the unique way that a core drill operator can suck down a core drilling rig to a concrete floor. This method is preferred when core drilling most smooth concrete floors. The vacuum pump sits on the core drill rig usually between the two wheels if the rig is so equipped. A soft suction foam ring lines a channel on the bottom of the core drill rig. On top of the rig is an opening that allows the vacuum pump to suck out the air trapped inside the ring on bottom, thus making suction to the concrete possible.

This was one mean wall. It had within its contents close to 14 pieces of rebar embedded into the concrete of the this parking garage on greene st, Greensboro, North Carolina. We took almost 48 minutes to core drill this 10 inch hole in the wall. Luckily we had our trusty small core drilling rig with us so that we could mount to the concrete wall with ease. The core weighed almost 60 lbs, which was enough to drag down the motor of our milwaukee 4004-20 core drill motor, but of course not it was not quite tough enough.

This is our work truck again, this time back in Concord, NC. This particular project involved core drilling through the shop floor of this former transmission shop on church street north. After we get done making a 4" hole in the floor a machine comes in and pounds segments of plastic tube some 30 feet into the ground. This allows the dirt under the old car shop to be sent off to a lab where they will come back with a verdict of whether the ground was contaminated or not by the work of changing truck and car transmissions.

This is a small residential project we underwent in York, SC where we core drilled 4 six inch core drill holes through stamped concrete. The hole nearest in the center of the stamped concrete patio was 14 inches deep which meant that we had to drill down through the foundation underneath the stamped concrete to reach the dirt below which is what the homeowner wanted. Then they were to set 4 wood 4 x 4 columns in the holes upon which the cast fiberglass column over it for support.
